Volunteer Opportunities
Nature is calming and inspiring to many people, and it is our collective responsibility to keep it that way for future generations. HCCP works to ensure that our natural world remains as beautiful and healthy as possible. To achieve this goal, we need dedicated individuals like you to step forward and become involved in our organization. If you are concerned about the environment, enjoy hiking, or simply want to give back to your community, we have a place for you in our organization. Serve on our board of directors, maintain and repair trails, and assist with our Adopt-a-Highway events to help us in our important work.
Why Your Involvement Matters:
- Protecting nature: Many different types of plants and animals find refuge in our nature preserve. By volunteering, you help to keep this ecosystem healthy so that future generations can enjoy it.
- Strengthening Community Bonds: People who volunteer feel more connected to their community and to one another. You’ll meet people who share your passion for the outdoors and with whom you can form long-lasting friendships while working toward a common goal.
- Promoting Physical Activity: Trail maintenance and cleanup days are a great way to stay active, get some fresh air, and enjoy the great outdoors. It’s good for your health and the environment.
- Making a Tangible Impact: Our Adopt-a-Highway events have a direct impact on the cleanliness of our community’s roads and, by extension, the environment. The entire community will be aware of and appreciate your efforts.
Join Our Board of Directors:
Are you an environmentally conscious leader? Consider joining our board of directors or just attending a board meeting. Your strategic thinking, leadership abilities, and dedication will shape our organization’s future. As a board member, you will have the opportunity to influence our policies, fundraising efforts, and long-term goals.
Trail Maintenance and Repair Days:
Our trails are the preserve’s lifeblood, allowing visitors to experience nature’s wonders. Volunteer for maintenance and repair days to help us keep these trails in good condition. Bring your tools, and we’ll provide the guidance. Seeing the positive outcomes of your efforts will give you a tremendous sense of accomplishment.
Adopt-a-Highway Events:
Our environmental commitment extends beyond the preserve’s boundaries. Participating in Adopt-a-Highway events allows you to help us keep our local roads clean and beautiful. These events are an excellent way to engage with the larger community and demonstrate our commitment to environmental stewardship.

“Since 2012, I have been a volunteer with Horsetown-Clear Creek Preserve. I like this organization because it is small, and one person can truly make a difference. I have made friends, and I really feel that I have contributed to helping reach the preserve’s goals. As an all-volunteer non-profit, everyone is happy to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. This organization was established in 1991, and I hope it lasts another 30+ years.”
